Nómadas Solidarios Mini Music Festival

Musicians young and not so young sing their hearts out for Uganda!

Last Saturday, Nómadas Solidarios held a mini music festival in the finca Entorno Doñana, el Boalo, to raise funds for Adelante África which runs a children’s home for abandoned kids in the west of Uganda as well as running a secondary school  other initiatives including a community tourism project. The money is also to go to materials for the primary school in Kibingo, Uganda, where we volunteered in July.

Give our business a chance!

 

If someone believes in your business idea, it gives you the confidence and motivation to develop that idea and make it work.

 

But if nobody believes in what you are trying to do, your confidence and motivation diminish. The idea dies. How can it go forward? Every business, 1however small, needs people who believe in it, people who are prepared to become clients. Without clients, the business remains a dream. Without clients, people are forced to depend on handouts. Without clients, people cannot help themselves out of the 2poverty trap.

Going bananas off the beaten track in Uganda

 

When I told my two daughters I was going to Uganda, they laughed. “If you eat a banana, you have to video it!” they said.

 

Let me explain. Because of some strange childhood trauma, I hate bananas. Now, you are probably thinking this apparently innocuous fruit would be the least of my concerns traveling as a woman alone in a country that produced the demented Last King of Scotland, Idi Amin, and the crazed Joseph Kony whose army of abducted child soldiers terrorized the north until 2006. Not so. As I traveled from one village to another, my only real worry was how inevitable the video was beginning to seem.
